We YARA fly! Hello, we are YARA! |

—YARA's greeting |
YARA is a four-member girl group under Sony Music Philippines. They debuted on March 10, 2023 with the first debut digital single, "Adda".
The group name came from the arabic origin that means 'butterfly'. Carefree and graceful, we see ourselves as a butterfly. One that has a pure spirit and can give hope to everyone.
They are best known for being contestants in the reality show POPinoy.
Career[]
2017-2018: Pre-debut[]
Rocher, Gelou, and Yuki were part of ShowBT Entertainment's trainee group NARRA —a musical gala team that was initially trained as performers only on the company's events and activities/backup dancers in a musical show.[citation needed]
Kim and Christa later joined the company as part of the last batch of trainees. The company decided to create two idol groups: a boy group and a girl group at the same time, however, due to some difficulties, they opted to focus on the boy group first. In 2018 they left the company on a mutual agreement. With that, Kim and Christa focused on their studies while Rocher, Gelou, and Yuki focused on their careers. Moreover, they were on good terms with ShowBT as they were able to perform in SB19's previous events such as their GITZ: Manila Concert, School Attack at PUP Manila and Dunkin' Presents: Give In to SB19 (postponed due to pandemic).[citation needed]
In 2019, original members Yuki, Gelou, and Rocher along with new members Christa and Kim had reunited and decided to take another shot in the contest Pinoy K-pop Star 2019. They decided to retain the group’s name, YARA, even after the introduction of Christa and Kim. YARA won as the second (2nd) runner-up for the Performance Category after they performed ITZY's "Dalla Dalla".[1]
2021: POPinoy[]
On June 20, 2021, the group joined the reality show POPinoy. In their first performance they sang the song "Sumayaw Ka" by Gloc-9, after that, they were immediately given four Pop from the Headhunters and passed to the next round.[2]
On November 7, 2021, the group became the first Girl Group Grand Winner in the finale of POPinoy.
2022: Release of "Para" music video[]
On November 7, 2022, they released the music video of their pre-debut song, "Para".[3]
2023: Debut with "ADDA", signed with Sony Music Philippines[]
Since January 5, YARA has been giving hints about their upcoming debut with the Code 10-98 concept.[4][5][6] After several days and weeks of releasing concept trailers,[7][8] on February 8, 2023, they finally revealed their debut single, "ADDA".[9]Originally, it was set to be released on March 3, 2023, but was later moved to March 10, 2023 to prepare themselves better for their debut, after leaving their old agency and becoming independent artists.[10]
On March 2, they announced that they were now signed under the label Sony Music Philippines.[11]
